Beauty 365 … Stories of Love and Life for Everyday

Lock-down journey Day 32…And then there were six.

At our home, we have a revolving door policy. Kids are flying the coop, so to speak, and I am excited and proud to witness the wonderful and exciting lives they are making for themselves, but I always find that it is far easier to welcome the kids home again than it is to let them leave!

Day 32 saw our eldest son leave our temporary home lock-down to resume his life in Sydney. It was a special stay this time, as he couldn’t race around catching up with friends. We had him all to ourselves, literally 24/7!

It gave me the opportunity to marvel, once again, at the gift of his life.

I marvel at the wonderful, talented and faithful, (not to mention handsome), young man he is and can’t help but recall his very shaky beginnings.

At his 20-week ultrasound, we were given a shocking prognosis. Likely he wouldn’t survive to full term, and if he did, he would certainly die within weeks of the birth. The clear message was, “Abort”.

Once again, I thank God for our faith, which told us this was wrong. Not sure if our little boy was miraculously healed, or if the doctors were mistaken, but he was born in full health, and hasn’t stopped growing since!!

My son is a literature scholar and until now has been my chief editor. During our shared lock-down, each morning, I would come to him with my blog, and he would move commas, question me about capitals, and smile in appreciation of what I had written. He is going to try to keep up his editorial engagement from afar. Not sure how that will work. I Hope I dont’ Start making two meny errars!
