Lock-down journey Day 49…Through the window pain.

After some relaxing of restrictions, and a fair bit of negotiating with the aged care facility, on day 49 of lock-down, I was finally able to visit my dad.
Visit…what constitutes a visit? It was through a window, me standing on the outside of the home, yelling through the window so I could be heard. My dad is very softly spoken these days so I was mostly unable to decipher his replies.
It wasn't easy, but on the way there I had committed to a ‘no tears policy’. I stood there smiling and monologuing about what we are all getting up to, and generally tried as best as I could to brighten his long day. Dad has always looked at me through rose coloured glasses and he smiled back at me like I was some sort of heavenly vision.
For me, this hardship of my parents has been the most difficult part of the lock-down. Do they really have to suffer so much this stage of their lives? I am unspeakably proud of them both.
