Beauty 365 … Stories of Love and Life for Everyday

Lock-down journey Day 51… I remember.

I spent the day snuggled up indoors.

At around 4pm I got a call from my doctor letting me know that I DON'T have Coronavirus!

I am very relieved and grateful that my doctor cared enough to call me with results on a Saturday afternoon!

I wrote this small poem for my mum.

I remember...

When I was little,
I remember you.
Chopping, stirring, reading stories, bathing us and singing.
Often, I was sick.
You spent the nights with me, watching, waiting, praying.
Thank you.

When I was a teen,
I remember you.
Driving, hosting, visiting, barracking at sports and ironing.
I hated it when TS invited me to go to a concert and you wouldn't let me.
Thank you.

When I became a mum myself,
I remember you.
Showing, encouraging, cuddling and doing the grocery shopping for me.
At the last minute you travelled to Sydney to mind the children so I could go the World Youth Day final mass.
Thank you.

And now, you are old.
Powered by faith, you are still visiting, giving people lifts, gardening and interested in everyone.
And slowly, you are learning to let me serve you.
Thank you.

All my love to you Mum, and to all mums on Mother's Day.
